Morocco Experience: Marrakech, Essaouira, and Agafay

24 March 2024 - 01 April 2024

If you want to explore the magic of Morocco, this is the adventure for you. Starting in the exciting city of Marrakech. We’ll shop, drink, and dine in the maze of narrow streets and magical souks in the medina. Visit the enchanting Majorelle Gardens and spend the day in the Atlas Mountains, stopping at Berber villages.

From here, we move to the beautiful coastal town of Essaouira to relax and enjoy this hugely atmospheric port's traditional culture and character. Our last night is spent in a luxury desert camp in Agafay, where we’ll spend our final evening around a fire pit, listening to local music and dining under the stars. With plenty of time to explore on your own, an English-speaking host for the entire tour and solo room occupancy at some of Morocco’s best boutique hotels, this is not to be missed!

Day 1 : Sunday, 24 March - Arrive Marrakech

Private transfer to 4* boutique hotel, The Bab. The hotel is located in the heart of Marrakech and has a fabulous rooftop bar and restaurant plus a swimming pool!

A Welcome dinner in a local gastronomic restaurant will take place on your first evening so you can meet your hostess and the rest of the group.

Day 2 : Monday, 25 March - Marrakech

After breakfast, you will enjoy a private tour of Marrakech. Founded in the 11th century and renowned for its treasure trove of mosques, palaces, and museums. Marrakech is the most visited of Morocco’s four Imperial Cities.

At its heart is the medina, the original walled settlement around which the rest of the city was built. A maze of narrow streets and magical souks, its cobblestone streets are traversed by pedestrians and donkey carts instead of cars and have changed very little in the hundreds of years since they were first laid out.

Filled with the exotic smells of spices and leather, and overwhelming at first, they soon transform into a place of magic that can be safely navigated on foot. You will visit the many salons and chambers which make up Bahia Palace, the Koutoubia Mosque and the famous Secret Gardens.

Later in the evening you will enjoy a culinary tasting trail where you can sample various Moroccan delights, after which you can sit down to a dinner in a restaurant in the square with your group.

Day 3: Tuesday, 26 March : Atlas Mountains

Today you will take a short trip to Ourika Valley, perched in the foothills of the Atlas Mountains. But on the way you will make a visit to Anima Garden, an artistic masterpiece. Designed by Andre Heller and filled with sculptures, bamboos and mesmerising flower beds.

Head on towards the mountains and begin your guided hike across the seven waterfalls. You will meet lots of locals as you cross the stunning countryside.

Lunch will be served at the Ikalimou restaurant nestled in a mountain corner.

Day 4: Wednesday, 27 March: Marrakech

Today we visit the Majorelle Gardens, a small haven of peace located in the heart of the city of Marrakech. The Majorelle Gardens were designed by the French Artist, Jacques Majorelle in 1924, and purchased by Yves St Laurent in 1980. Some 300 species of plants from 5 continents, including cactus palms and aquatic plants are represented here.

The Majorelle Garden’s electric-blue art deco studio houses the fabulous Musée Berbère, which showcases the rich panorama of Morocco’s indigenous inhabitants. Some 600 artefacts are available including wood and metalwork, textiles. As well as a room of regional traditional costumes displayed with the flair of a catwalk show.

Following our private tour there’ll be free time for shopping or exploring Marrakech before heading back to the hotel.

Day 5: Thursday, 28 March: Essaouira

After breakfast you will be taken by luxury minivan to Essaouira, a beautiful laid-back seaside city with white-washed medieval looking house, art galleries, mosques and restaurants.

You will be staying at the Sofitel Essouira Mogador Golf & Spa Hotel. You will enjoy a private guided tour of this enchanting coastal city. You can even choose some fish at the local fish market and your Guide will organise for it to be taken to a restaurant so you can sit down and eat the freshest fish meal you have ever tasted!!

After lunch wander with your Guide through the spice-scented lanes and palm-lined avenues of the fortified medina and watch fishing nets being mended and traditional boats being constructed in the hugely captivating port.

You will visit Skala, a 15th century citadel. In the evening the group will watch the sunset whilst enjoying a drink in a local cafe.

Day 6: Friday, 29 March: Essaouira

Today after breakfast indulge in a culinary experience with local cuisine and learn the gastronomic insights of the region.

Following a professional chef, roll up your sleeves and learn how to make a fish tagine, a unique popular dish in Essouira. Once cooked, devour your very own creation!

The rest of the day is at leisure.

Day 7: Saturday 30 March: Essaouira

Full day to relax.

Day 8: Sunday, 31 March : Agafay Desert

After breakfast, your driver will take you to the Agafay desert. Located thirty kilometres south of Marrakech, to our base at the Agafay Luxury Camp. In the middle of the desert, it presents a surprising oasis, where we’ll spend our final night in our own luxury tent.

Here we’ll enjoy a real desert experience, riding camels or taking an optional sunset buggy ride. Our last evening together will be spent under the stars, around the fire pit enjoying local food and entertainment.

A fabulous finale to an amazing trip.
