Half day trip to Villa Ephrussi
Location: St Jean Cap Ferrat
Created betweem1907 & 1912 by Beatrice Ephrussi, daughter of Alphonse de Rothschild, a banker and renowned Art collector.
Located between Nice and Monaco, overlooking the Mediterranean, the Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild is a magnificent palace surrounded by nine themed gardens: French garden, Spanish garden, Florentine garden, stone garden, Japanese garden, exotic garden, Provençal garden and rose garden. The beauty, creativity and serenity will astound you! Beatrice was to become one of the greatest collectors of her century. It was due to the fortune left to her by her father following his death that she decided to construct her dream home at her favourite spot o Cap Ferrat.
It took 7 years to complete the gardens, and eventually it became Beatrices' winter residence. It was a haven for art collectors and it was decorated in Rothschild style, with the best from each era.
A year before her death in 1933 she left the villa and all the various art collections to the Academie des Beaux-Arts who currently manage the villa today.
