The Lavender, Provence

full day departure from Nice

SHARED TOUR - MAX 9 PEOPLE

Please note this tour is not available until July 2025.

There is so much to see and do during your visit to the Cote d’Azur and whilst you are enjoying this stunningly beautiful and fascinating region of France, there is always one place calling you, one place you long to see but it is quite far away and difficult to get to via public transport - that place is the magical Lavender fields of Valensole, Provence. So, AzurXperiences decided we will make this happen and have organised a shared tour to Valensole from Nice!!!! It is a long day but it will be worth it!! We are only running the tour in Lavender season so you can see it in full bloom. We have 2 dates in July. Please see below for more information

You will be picked up by luxury mini van at 07.45 from a central point in Nice and your driver will take you from the French Riviera coast to the Provencale countryside!

Your first stop will of course be Valensole, the heart of the lavender region. Valensole is situated in the middle of a magnificent plateau of lavender and almond trees and is true to its name: Valensole comes from the Latin "vallis" and "solis" meaning the valley of sun. Valensole has been able to conserve its character and charm typical of Haute Provence villages. It is a pleasure to stroll through the narrow streets of the old city. It is also a health resort well appreciated for its pure fresh air. The countryside all around (le plateau de Valensole) is perfectly beautiful especially in the spring when the almond trees are in bloom. In the summer aromas of lavender and thym waft through the air confirming the fact that Valensole is one of the most important producers of lavender in Provence. After free time for lunch you will head back towards Nice via Moustiers-Sainte-Marie - a Provençal village with a rich history and architectural heritage. Built between two rocky slopes, its offers spectacular and captivating views, as much from the heights as at the foot of the village. Situated in the department of the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence in the heart of the Verdon Regional Nature Park, the town boasts such glowing features as it history and natural surroundings.
Moustiers-Sainte-Marie enjoys an exceptional geographic position and culminates at 630 metres altitude. Its territory is vast; it is in the centre of the main sightseeing routes of the Verdon and, downstream from the Gorges of the Verdon, the Sainte-Croix lake lies to the south of the valley of Moustiers-Sainte-Marie. Dams, torrents, cascades, rivers and lakes make up the major elements of this landscape. It has a warm temperate climate with ample precipitations. You will arrive back into Nice at 7.30pm.
